University of Alabama at Birmingham Hotels - Transportation

Birmingham International Airport provides easy access to Birmingham's metropolitan area. It is the largest airport in Alabama, providing every day flights to al the major cities in USA. It is located at a distance of 4.5 miles east of downtown Birmingham. To get in the city, you can take a taxi, or use the Shuttle Service. Visitors should consider making arrangements before arriving to the airport, because the Shuttle Service requires reservations. For families, the cheapest way to get from the airport to downtown Birmingham is a private-ride van. An airport shuttle may cost $60 each way.


Public transportation is considered to be the slowest form to travel within and outside the city, especially during rush hour.


The University of Alabama at Birmingham campus is located 5 miles from the airport. Visitors can choose from 5 taxi companies and 6 car rental agencies to get to UAB.
